  • This is what bureaucrats do when they're out of things to do: they make rules. When they run out of rules their usefulness ends, so the make more rules. The Dept of Transportation has to justify its existence with something, hence, more rules. Read the Tenth Amendment and leave me alone.

  • I think Lisa's point is that this is not the appropriate forum for this discussion, but....since we're on it, I do think there is some hypocrisy when declaring whether or not abortion is the killing of life.

  • The problem also is that it's easy to say 'fire all these people,' except that what, are you going to fire half the teachers in inner-city schools because their students are underperforming? And then what? How will you lure 'good' teachers to those schools? Well, money obviously.

  • What's conveniently left out of this article about the crazy year that was 2011, is that the majority of natural disaster damage was due to the Japan earthquake and subsequent Tsunami, which caused even more flood damage. Are they including flood damage caused by a Tsunami as climate related?
